Gaston

Gaston
Gaston m
French: of uncertain derivation. It seems to have originated in the south of France, and in the Middle Ages was a hereditary name among the counts of Foix and viscounts of Béarn. It is probably of Germanic origin, derived from the element gast guest, stranger. According to another theory, it was originally an ethnic name for a Gascon. There are no grounds for the common association made between this name and Vedastus (see VAAST (SEE Vaast)).
